SAP BW / BI / Power BI Developer

Location: 100% Remote (within EU time zones preferred)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: Initial 24 months (extensions expected)

We are currently supporting a leading client in the energy sector on a large-scale transformation initiative and are looking for an experienced SAP BW / BI / Power BI Developer to join their team on a long-term 100% remote freelance contract.

This is a business-critical role combining backend SAP BW data modelling and development with business-facing Power BI solutions to support B2B operations, CRM, marketing, billing, and campaign processes.

✅ Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain SAP BW solutions on HANA, supporting key business domains such as billing, sales statistics, receivables, CRM, marketing, and Powercloud data.

• Analyse business needs and translate them into effective data architecture and reporting solutions in SAP BW and Power BI.

• Design and implement both front end and back end BI solutions, ensuring scalability, stability, and alignment with UX/UI best practices.

• Collaborate in agile Scrum teams, including backlog grooming, story estimation, sprint reviews, and presentations.

• Develop mock ups and prototypes and present them to stakeholders.

• Maintain documentation using Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and support continuous improvements to the BI application portfolio.

• Contribute to data governance, repository management, and process standardisation.

🛠️ Essential Skills:

• Strong expertise in SAP BW on HANA DB, including data modelling, query design, and integration with source systems.

• Hands-on experience with Power BI: dash-boarding, data modelling, performance tuning, and deployment.

• Solid understanding of data warehouse architecture and ETL processes.

• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitLab and general agile working principles.

• Ability to engage with business stakeholders, conduct requirements gathering, and deliver well-documented technical solutions.

• Strong communication skills and a proactive, independent working style.

💡 Nice to Have:

• Experience with SQL, Azure Data Lake, Snowflake, or similar platforms.

• Programming knowledge (e.g. JavaScript, RESTful API) and digital analytic tools (Google Analytics, Tag Manager, SEO/SEA).

• Background in the energy or utilities sector, especially in B2B sales or CRM.

• German language skills are a plus.
